Mike,

In short the answer is not only "yes such a beast can exist", but you should own such a beast before you put money in the market!

Read the expectancy chapters in Trade Your Way to Financial Freedom  by Van Tharp.

Beyond that, the very best advice I can give is to focus on price action.
I know nothing is valued unless earned but you will save yourself literally thousands of dollars by remebering those four words.

The study takes months, even years, to truly assimulate but the rewards far outweigh the effort.  However the effort is far from inconsiderable. There may appear lots of apparant short cuts but honestly there really aren't.
