If you're getting errors loading securities then please contact support so we can get some more details.

Ctrl+N is the hot key to load a new chart. You can also access thingslike this through the actions menu. Or the new chart icon on thetoolbar.

To flip through all the stocks in a watchlist or to flip through theindices, press F6 to open the security manager. Find the group you'reinterested in (the indices themselves are located under AllSecurities/Security Types). When the group is selected, the list ofcodes will appear below. Click on an item. Then you can use the up/downarrows to flick between others. Or you can use the slideshow icons atthe top of the security manager to automatically flick. I might make this weeks tip about the security manager.

Hope this helps.
Author: kneighbour
Subject: 128
Posted: 12 Feb 2005 at 6:55pm

The more I use Bullcharts - the more I like it. There are some quite annoying problems though. A good one that pops to mind is - you cannot easily change the symbol being displayed. This is something I am doing all the time, and it is quite annoying.

ie - I am looking at BHP and I now want to look at CBA. How do I do it?

- If I have looked at CBA before, it will be in the dropdown MRU box - so I type in CBA and it loads. Excellent.
- if was not loaded before, and I type in the code, the system beeps at me. Nothing happens. What should happen is that the stock should load.
- After reading the manual, I found that F4 loads a new symbol. Ok - I hit F4 then type CBA then press ENTER. You get an error message saying that there is something wrong loading the data for stock"". This took me a while to work out - but what happens is that you hit F4, then type in CBA. But the edit field on the popup entry screen does not have focus. So where you are typing I have no idea. Anyway, nothing gets entered into the symbol field, so you get the error message. The error message should not be as it is -it should reflect the fact that you have entered a blank symbol code. And of course you should change the focus to the edit field when the dialog screen pops up.

- I do a File/New/Chart. For something that you are doing all the time, this is way too cumbersome.

It would be nice if you could fix both of these problems - allow for direct symbol entry in the dropdown MRU edit field - or get the F4 dialog to work.

It would also be nice to have a "Next stock", "Prev Stock" function. And this would work on the system where you were located in the Security Manager. ie if you were displaying an Index - "Next" would display the next Index. If you were in a Watchlist, then the next item in the watchlist, etc.

I hate to say it - but you really should have a very good look at FChartsPro. The user interface on that is really great. It does not have near as many bells and whistles as BC, but the interface and watchlist system is superb.

Edited by kneighbour
